Police,Crime & 999 by John Donoghue

Kindle

Ever wondered what really happens behind the scenes in the police? What bizarre 999 calls are made to the emergency services? Why can wearing two pairs of socks make you a suspect? What is the link between police and vampires? Which Royal arrest never made news headlines? What covert sign do officers make when they no longer wish to talk to you? After successful careers in both the military and business, John Donoghue realised that the higher you get in any organisation, the less fun you have. So, after handing back his expense account and company car, he joined the police in search of excitement and thrills… and discovered some surprising answers to these puzzling questions. PC John Donoghue reveals all in his fascinating and hilarious true account of a year in the life of a front line response officer. Names and places have been changed to protect the guilty… but if you call the police, maybe, just maybe, it could be Police Constable John Donoghue turning up at your door. This book will appeal to anyone interested in crime and police, as well as fans of autobiographies and humour

  1. This was the 1st book of the authors I brought and as the previous comment ended up purchasing his other two, this book brought tears of laughter to my eyes, and something I don’t usually do when reading a book laughing out loud, bad for the people nearby as I haven’t got the quietest of laughs. Couldn’t put it down and have read several times since, finding more things hidden within the text that I hadn’t noticed before, like the names of the characters. Have recommended to anyone who listen.

  2. Read his first book ,found parts of it very funny then read this one ,even funnier , read it on holiday ,strange looks from the poolside .

  3. An amazing book, giving a great insight into one of the most contreversial roles in society. The Police. Extremely funny read, well written, exciting 10/10!!!

  4. I have read all three of this brilliant author’s books and loved them all – it’s true life on the ‘thin blue line’ at it’s funniest. A must read for all three books! Absolutely superb!

  5. A funny but realistic book, my o/h was in the police and tells similar stories so can verify they’re realistic. Looking forward to reading John’s next book on my Kindle

  6. I really enjoyed this book. It was funny and really well written and just kept me turning the pages until I realised it was finished. Not a lot of books can do that for me. Brilliant.

  7. The guy is a great bloke, a great cop and great author. When it comes to Police books, he succeeds where others fail.

  11. After reading excellent reviews on Amazon I picked up this book, well glad I didn’t, the humour is that which is shared by many, maybe not totally pc, but the sort of humour that is constantly share on social network, John Donoghue has given a behind the scenes view of British Policing which the public don’t normally see, there is nothing more stranger than folk as they say, this book prove it, it is a LAUGH OUT LOUD fully entertaining book, I have also read his other books which I have enjoyed as much. John I wish you all the luck with the votes, as the book deserve recognition.
